ALL

Loveland, Colorado (originally Los Angeles). Formed 1987 by the non-Milo members of descendents: Bill Stevenson (drums), Karl Alvarez (bass), and Stephen Egerton (guitar). When Milo Aukerman left for grad school (again), the band recruited Dave Smalley (ex-Dag Nasty, DYS) on vocals and became ALL — a permanent, prolific pop-punk entity.

Key Releases

• Allroy Sez (1988, Cruz Records) — Debut with Smalley. Pop-punk with hardcore energy.
• Allroy for Prez (1988) — Quick follow-up.
• Percolater (1992) — Scott Reynolds on vocals (after Smalley). Catchier, more melodic.
• Breaking Things (1993) — Peak Reynolds era.
• Mass Nerder (1998, Epitaph) — Chad Price on vocals. Written alongside Descendents’ Everything Sucks. Arguably ALL’s best late album.
• Problematic (2000) — Final studio album.

The Descendents/ALL Arrangement

ALL functioned as Descendents’ permanent backup — when Milo was available (between biochemistry stints), they were Descendents. When he wasn’t, they were ALL. This arrangement meant the band was always active, always touring, always recording. ALL released a massive catalog of albums, EPs, and compilations.

The Blasting Room

Bill Stevenson built The Blasting Room studio in Fort Collins, Colorado — one of punk’s most important recording facilities. Stevenson and the ALL/Descendents crew produced records by Rise Against, NOFX, Lagwagon, Propagandhi, Good Riddance, and dozens of others.
