The Queers
Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Formed 1982 by Joe King (vocals/guitar). Ramones-worshipping pop-punk. One of the most prolific and consistently enjoyable punk bands of the 90s — never changing, never compromising, never stopping.

- Beat Off (1990, lookout-records) — Debut. Fast, catchy, dumb (in the best way).
- Love Songs for the Retarded (1993, Lookout) — “Love Love Love,” “You’re Triumphant.” Peak Queers.
- Don’t Back Down (1996, Lookout) — More polished but still raw.
- Punk Rock Confidential (1998, Hopeless) — Continued the formula.
- Beyond the Valley of the Assfuckers (2007) — The title tells you everything.
The Ramonescore Tradition
The Queers are one of the defining “Ramonescore” bands — bands that worship the Ramones’ template of simple chords, catchy melodies, and adolescent themes. Where Screeching Weasel added bitterness and The Riverdales added pop polish, The Queers kept it simple: fast songs about girls, beer, and being a punk.
Joe King
Joe King (also known as Joe Queer) is punk’s most prolific songwriter — the Queers have released dozens of albums, EPs, and splits over 40+ years. The band’s consistency is remarkable: every Queers album sounds like a Queers album. No experimentation, no evolution, no pretension.
